Priority Areas for reactive emergency vector control

Rationale:
When emergency vector control response capacity is overwhelmed during dengue outbreaks, there is a critical need for a rational spatial response plan where high risk Priority Areas are treated before areas with lower risk.

Basis for Priority Area classification for emergency vector control:

  • Historical data on spatial vector abundance patterns
  • Historical data on spatial dengue case or dengue incidence patterns

Basis for "on-the-fly" adjustment of Priority Area classification during a dengue outbreak:

  • Surveillance data for clinically diagnosed dengue cases showing unexpected spatial patterns of case clustering
